MD: VOTE NO TO SLOTS!

To: Voters in the State of Maryland

From: Our Friends at Interfaith Works

VOTE NO: OPPOSE THE SLOTS REFERENDUM!

THE SLOTS VOTE WILL BE CLOSE, SO . . .
. . . YOUR NOVEMBER 4TH VOTE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

Don’t let this important decision pass by without your say in the matter.

Vote NO - if you want gambling to remain illegal in Maryland.
Vote NO - if you don’t want Maryland to rely on legalized gambling for revenue.
Vote NO - if you don’t want the state to sponsor an addictive behavior that has real human costs.

+ Proponents say the state will garner $600 Million. Informed experts say that is wildly optimistic.

+ 1/3 of slots profits will go to education; 1/3 will go to the gambling industry; some funds will support the racing industry which employs low wage workers, many without benefits!

+ Jurisdictions with legalized gambling report significantly higher crime and domestic violence requiring increased law enforcement, child protection and mental health services, all of which are a burden to taxpayers.

Interfaith Works opposes slots because of its destructive and costly consequences on families and the poor, and ultimately the taxpayers.

On election day, we hope you will OPPOSE SLOTS MACHINES too! Please share this message with your family and friends.
