Health Care for All Children: TAKE ACTION NOW!

Over the past ten years, the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) has been effective at reducing the number of uninsured children. However, the number of uninsured children is on the rise — there are one million more uninsured children today than there were two years ago — and there are more than nine million uninsured children in America today. That means millions of children in America are not getting the care they need to lead healthy, happy, and productive lives.

In response to this situation, a majority of both Houses of Congress voted in favor of H.R. 976, a reauthorization of SCHIP. But President Bush has promised to veto the bill and that veto is expected soon [probably today]. This means that the House and the Senate will need to override the President's veto in order for this important and much-needed bipartisan bill to become law.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SENATORS and REPRESENTATIVE TODAY and urge them to override the President's veto when it happens.
